Women's Water Polo | April 14, 2017
SEASIDE, Calif. -- The Cal State Monterey Bay women's water polo recognized two seniors in
Kylie Wheelock and
Adrianna Craft on what would be a intense game against Fresno Pacific on Friday evening at the Otter Tank. The Otters trailed 12-9 at the start of the fourth quarter, but completed an epic comeback by shutting out FPU in the fourth quarter on their way to a 13-12 win.
The Otters got goals from
Olivia Woolery, Jessi Boyd-Mankin, and
Sarah Smith in order to tie the game at 12-12 at the 4:33 mark of the final quarter. During the final 4:32 the Otters and Sunbirds went back-and-forth as both defenses were holding strong.
Not wanting to take the game into overtime, the Otters were able to get their defense set up with 10 seconds remaining, thanks to a useful 30-second timeout called by Head Coach
Emily Schmit. Once set,
Kylie Wheelock got the ball and found
Marisa Lovos on the far side. Lovos was able to gain space and fire a bullet into the back of the net with one second remaining on the game clock, giving CSUMB the 13-12 win.
