MISSION

The CSUMB Sports Medicine team is committed to the development of a positive, multi-discipline, evidenced-based approach to the prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries sustained by our student-athletes. The number one priority of the sports medicine staff will always be the health and wellbeing of every student-athlete. Ongoing, transparent evaluation of our athletic training program will be key to achieving the highest possible standards. Furthermore, we are committed to addressing problems and concerns in a timely manner so the needs of our students-athletes and staff can continue to be met.
 

FACILITY

The primary facility for the care of student athletes is located in the Otter Sports Center. This facility provides CSUMB student-athletes the evaluation, management, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries that they may occur.

MEDICAL TEAM

CSUMB has a medical team partnership with Monterey Spine and Joint. MSJ serves as the primary team physicians in our sports medicine network.  MSJ provide a comprehensive, multidisciplinary medical network for our student-athletes.
 

ALL STUDENT-ATHLETES

List of items needed to be completed for medical clearance to participate:
  1. SportsWare Medical information system
  2. Pre-participation physician exam 
  3. Orthopedic Exam: Required for all student-athletes, every year. This in-person exam must be scheduled with the athletic training staff
  4. Satisfy the NCAA Sickle Cell Testing Requirement
  5. SWAY baseline concussion testing
