Polo Shines Again In ACWPC Academic Awards

Otters finish second in NCAA Division II with 3.60 team GPA

SEASIDE, Calif. — As it does every year, the Cal State Monterey Bay water polo team made a huge splash in the classroom as 18 Otters earned All-Academic awards from the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches for their work during the 2025-26 academic year.

The ACWPC awards its All-Academic honors in three categories: Outstanding (3.71 – 4.0 GPA), Superior (3.41 – 3.70) and Excellent (3.20 – 3.40). CSUMB's 18 winners ranked No. 2 amongst all NCAA Division II programs and were tops the West Region.

"We are incredibly proud of our student-athletes for earning these prestigious honors," said CSUMB head Coach Emily Schmit. "This is a reflection of our dedication and commitment both in the classroom and in the pool and individual but also the support of the CSUMB community, our faculty, athletic staff, and the culture we've built within our program."

As a team, CSUMB placed No. 2 in NCAA Division II and No. 16 amongst all colleges with a 3.60 GPA, finishing just below Stanford (3.66) and Brown (3.61).

Leading the way were seniors Ximena Pichon (Clovis HS) and Shea Tully (Yucaipa HS), who both made the list for the fourth time. Juniors Annika Harper (San Diego/Clairemont HS), Stella Martin (Clovis West HS) and Katie Rudis (Oceanside/El Camino HS) each picked up their third awards. Abby Allan (Sanger HS), Becca Bijold (Arvada, Colo./Ralston Valley HS), Kira Clark (Fremont/Mission Jason Jose HS), Natalie Mancinelli (El Dorado Hills/Oak Ridge HS), Shelby Pfister (Kodiak, Ak./Bakersfield Stockdale HS), Kendra Weaver (Valley Center HS) and Marissa White (Mission San Jose HS) all earned their second nods.
