LA VERNE, Calif. — Fresh off their first win of 2017, the Cal State Monterey Bay women's water polo team made it back-to-back wins with a 14-9 victory over La Verne University on Saturday morning. The win completed a 3-game road trip that saw the Otters go 2-1.

Marisa Lovos (Tualatin HS) and
Kylie Wheelock (Clovis HS) complemented with two goals each. They were joined in the 2-goal club by
Dinah Aiad (Redondo Union HS) who scored twice on two attempts.
BACK-TO-BACK: Today's win marks the first time the Otters have won back-to-back games in almost a year. They beat St. Francis College-Brooklyn, 13-10, before beating Siena College, 12-10, later that day on Feb. 21, 2016.
ODDLY ENOUGH: CSUMB turned the table on the scoreboard. The Otters loss to Cal State Northridge on Friday was by the same score in which they beat La Verne today, 14-9
LEADERS OF THE RAFT: GOALS: Craft -- 4;
ASSISTS: Lucy Gates (Oceanside HS), Lovos, Craft -- 2;
FIELD BLOCKS: Aiad -- 1;
STEALS: Aiad -- 3;

THE LAST WORD: "The team played well. Once again, our never-let-up mentality, offensive attack and communication on defense allowed us to control the game from the beginning, despite hard defense by La Verne. Craft, Aiad, and Fain in the cage, all stepped up big for us today."
-Head Coach Emily Schmit
THEY'VE GOT NEXT… The Otters will head to the Fresno Pacific mini Tournament on Feb. 11 to battle the host, Fresno Pacific and Concordia–Irvine. First sprint vs Concordia is set for 1:00 p.m.
