Women's Water Polo | March 25, 2016
SEASIDE, Calif. -- The Cal State Monterey Bay women's water polo team hosted its final home game of the 2016 season as the Cal State East Bay Pioneers came to The Otter Tank. The Otters kept in close in the first half, but CSUEB exploded offensively in the second half to hand CSUMB a 14–8 loss.
Adrianna Craft (Belmont, Mich. / Rockford Senior HS) got the Otters on the board with her first of two goals in the first quarter. Trailing 3–4,
Tatiana Veloso (Rio de Janiero, Brazil) was able to tie the game at four goals each before CSUEB rallied for three scores before the half to take a 7–4 lead into intermission.
The Pioneers opened things up in the third quarter scoring five times backed by two scores from Sabrina Hatzer. CSUMB made a try at a comeback by scoring the final three goals of the game, including two from
Morgan Tucker (San Diego, Calif. / Clairemont High School), but the hole was to big to climb out off in the 14–8 loss.
Craft, Veloso and Tucker each had two scores for the Otter offense while
Kat Lloyd (Orinda, Calif. / Miramonte HS) led the goalie tandom with seven saves.
Monterey Bay will travel to Sonoma State next weekend for games against UC San Diego and Sonoma State.
