FRESNO, Calif. -- The Cal State Monterey Bay women's water polo team traveled to Fresno Pacific for a mini tournament against Bakersfield and the Sunbirds on Saturday afternoon. While the Otters battled two tough teams, they came up short in both contests. Monterey Bay fell by a score of 11–5 to #24 Bakersfield and 7–4 to FPU.
The Otters failed to grab a lead in either game despite an offense led by
Tatiana Veloso (Rio de Janiero, Brazil) who scored two against Bakersfield. Veloso went on to record a hat trick against the Sunbirds in the loss.
CSUMB had its best game of the day against FPU in the second game of the day. After trailing 1–3, CSUMB rallied back in the second quarter to tie the game at 3–3 heading into the half. However, the Otters were out scored 2–1 after the break and were held scoreless in the fourth en route to the 4–7 loss.
Monterey Bay will return to friendly confines of the Otter Tank on Friday, March 25 for senior day against WWPA foe, Cal State East Bay.
