ROHNERT PARK, Calif. -- In the first Western Water Polo Association game of the season, the Cal State Monterey Bay Women's Water Polo team traveled to Dr. G. Edward Rudloff pool to battle Sonoma State on Saturday afternoon. Although four different Otters scored a goal each, CSUMB fell in its fist conference game by a score of 5–4.
Ashton Palmer (Salt Lake City, Utah / Cottonwood HS) got the Otters on the board in the first quarter, giving the CSUMB a 1–0 lead after the fist eight minutes.
Tatiana Veloso (Rio de Janiero, Brazil) and
Cami Kellogg (Felton, Calif. / San Lorenzo Valley HS) each scored in the second quarter while SSU put one goal on the board, handing CSUMB a 3–1 lead at halftime.
The Otters were shutout in the opening of the second half, allowing Sonoma to grab a 4–3 lead after netting three goals in the third quarter. While
Hailey Adamski (San Jose, Calif. / Pioneer HS) scored once in the fourth, that would be all for CSUMB as the Seawolves matched the Adamski score, handing the Otters a 4–5 loss.
