SEASIDE, Calif.. -- The Cal State Monterey Bay Women's Water Polo team played it's second consecutive one–score game. Friday afternoon saw Cal Lutheran step into the Otter tank and score the winning goal with 1:24 remaining in the game to hand the Otters the 7–8 loss.

Samantha Whitecotton (Roseville, Calif. / Woodcreek HS) in the first quarter was the lone goal in the first half, putting the Otters in a 1–4 hole at halftime.
Three goals in the third quarter showed promise for the Otter offense, however, CSUMB would still trail by two goals heading into the final eight minutes. Another three goals in the fourth quarter including two from
Cami Kellogg (Felton, Calif. / San Lorenzo Valley HS) and one from Whitecotton who tied the game at 7–7 with 1:50 remaining.
Twenty–six seconds later, the Regals handed heartbreak to the Otters with the game–winning goal at the 1:24 mark, giving CSUMB the 8–7 loss at home.
Kellogg and Whitecotton each recorded two goals for the Otters, while goalkeeper
Amanda Jennings (Oakley, Calif. / Freedom HS) recorded eight saves. The Otters fall to 2–8 on the season.
Cal State Monterey Bay will be back in action on Saturday, February 21 when they take on Indiana University in Santa Clara, Calif. First sprint is set for 3 p.m.
