FINAL RESULTS
PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. — Day two and the final round at the Guy Harvey Invitational in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. saw the Cal State Monterey Bay
Men's Golf team continue it's inconsistent play from day one, dropping one spot in the team rankings to ninth overall.
Carr Vernon (Poplar Bluff, Mo./Poplar Bluff HS) was the bright spot for the Otters, posting an even par 72 in his final round (223), moving him up 21 spots in the standings to T-23rd with teammate
Robby Salomon (Woodside, Calif./Serra HS) who carded a final round 77 (223).Junior
Ray Richards (Tualatin Ore. / Tualatin HS) slipped into the top 50 (44th) with a final score of 227 after a 78 in the final round.
"Overall this was just a terrible tournament for us," said head coach
Jason Owen. "Anytime we play and don't have one person competing for a title, you know it isn't a good event."
No.1 Barry University could not be caught as they went on to win in record-setting fashion, carding a tournament record team score of 845, 19-under par. Barry's Adam Svensson took medalist honors with a 9-under-par 207, tying the men's tournament record. CSUMB finished ninth with a team score of 899.
Cal State Monterey Bay will travel to the North Bay to take on Sonoma State University in Santa Rosa, Calif. next Monday and Tuesday, October 13-14 in the Sonoma State Invitational.
