Huang Shoots Record-Tying 63 In Stockton

Huang and Otters finish 7th at regional preview tournament

February 24, 2026

STOCKTON, Calif. — Led by a record-tying 63 from senior Colin Huang (Corona Del Mar HS), the Cal State Monterey Bay men's golf team charged five spots up the leaderboard to a seventh place finish at the Visit Stockton Invitational Tuesday on the Reserve at Spanos Park course.

Huang's 63 tied the CSUMB record first set by Tony Tao in the opening round of the 2024 NCAA Division II Championship Tournament. It was his third round in the 60s this season.

"It was great to see Colin get a deep round," said CSUMB Head Coach Jason Owen. "He has been really close to playing good golf lately, so I wasn't surprised to see him go off like he did."

Thank's in large part to Huang's low number the Otters vaulted up the leaderboard to a seventh place finish in the 21-team field by shooting a collective 4-under Tuesday. That proved to be the third best round of the tournament by any team.

Freshman Zaid Khan (Sacramento/CMASAS) also posted a red number Tuesday with a 71. Alex Cooke (74) and Kash Cantrell (76) shot CSUMB's other two scoring rounds.

Colorado State-Pueblo won the team title at 7-under. Western Washington finished at even par and Colorado Christian finished plus-3.

The Otters will jump right back into tournament action next week when they travel to Las Vegas for the National Preview Mar. 1-3 at Boulder Creek Golf Club.
