BEAUMONT, Calif. — Cal State Monterey Bay men's golf sits three strokes back and freshman Zaid Khan (Sacramento) is four back after 36 holes at the Coyote Classic played Monday at Oak Valley Golf Club.


The Otters finished the first day at 10-under, trailing only host Cal State San Bernardino. No. 12 ranked Colorado Mesa is in third, seven strokes behind the Otters.

Khan posted rounds of 4-under in the morning and 2-under in the afternoon to earn sole possession of third place entering the final round. Sophomore Simon Germain (Lyon, France) and senior Colin Huang (Corona Del Mar HS) also played their way into the Top 10. Germain is in 8th at 2-under while Huang is tied for ninth at even par.

Freshman Ben Christian (Dexter, Mo./Southern Indiana) and junior George Goff (Orlando, Fla./Gardner-Webb Univ.) are tied for 15th place at 1-over.

San Bernardino's Kameron Hopkins leads the field going into the final round at 10-under. Henry Starr of Colorado Mesa is second at 7-under.

The Coyote Classic concludes with 18 holes Tuesday.
