CUPERTINO - The Cal State Monterey Bay track and field team continued to work towards the CCAA Championship meet by posting another solid performance this time at the Jim Linthicum Invitational at De Anza College.

The Otters showcased their depth and talent with victories in five events and numerous top-ten finishes throughout the meet.

The women's distance squad swept the top three positions in the steeple. Sophomore
Hannah Amundsen led the charge with a winning time of 11:19.68, followed closely by junior
Cozette Wood in second place at 11:41.03. Senior
Maya Centeno completed the sweep with a third-place finish in 11:44.74.

Junior
Daniela Munguia emerged as one of the meet's standout performers, capturing victory in the 1,500 meters with an impressive PR time of 4:44.26. Munguia's dominance extended beyond a single event, as she also posted a competitive 2:26.62 in the 800 meters to finish 10th overall.

The women's 1,500 meters proved to be a showcase event for CSUMB, with seniors
Ali Keith and
Kayla Young delivering exceptional performances. Keith finished second overall with a personal best time of 4:46.77, while Young claimed third place just two-hundredths of a second behind at 4:46.79. The duo continued their strong showing in the 800 meters, where Young placed third with a time of 2:21.59 and Keith finished fourth at another PR time of 2:22.80.

Sophomore
Rachel Hoops provided another stellar performance in the 800 meters, capturing first place with a time of 2:17.12. The Otters' depth in the event was further evidenced by sophomore
Angeline Gutierrez's seventh-place finish at 2:27.95 and freshman
Reese Colton's 14th-place showing in 2:30.45.

Mariessa McLaughlin capped the women's distance performances with a victory in the 5,000 meters, crossing the line in 18:51.89 to claim top honors.
On the men's side, junior
William Trowbridge dominated the 3,000-meter steeplechase, winning decisively with a time of 9:46.60.

Sophomore
Erik Bromley delivered a win in the 1,500 meters, capturing first place with a sub-four-minute time of 3:58.06. He also competed in the 800 meters, finishing fifteenth with a time of 2:03.95.

The men's 800 meters saw strong depth from the Otters, with
Hanival Osorio-Martinez leading the way with a third-place finish at 2:03.15. Trowbridge doubled back from his steeplechase victory to record 2:07.12 for eighth place, while Cornforth finished twelfth at 2:07.82.

Jake Walton provided a strong second-place finish in the 5,000 meters, clocking 15:35.74.

The Otters will have their final tune-up for the CCAA Championship next week as they compete in both the Leopard Invitational and prestigious Bryan Clay Invite.
