Day Leads Way On All-WWPA Team

Junior Autumn Day becomes CSUMB’s first 2-time first team All-WWPA performer

April 23, 2025

SEASIDE, Calif. — Junior Autumn Day (Murrieta Valley HS) made Cal State Monterey Bay history by becoming the first Otter ever named first team All-Western Water Polo Association two times when the WWPA announced its all-conference teams Wednesday afternoon.

Day, who was a first team All-WWPA pick in 2024, lead a quartet of Otters earning recognition in advance of this weekend's WWPA Championship Tournament. Joining her were second team selections Allyson Ainsworth (West Sacramento/River City HS) and Marissa White (Union City/Mission San Jose HS) and honorable mention pick Emma Sosa (Tustin/Foothill HS).

Day leads the Otters into the postseason with 55 goals and 85 points. She ranks in the WWPA in Top 10 in goals (5th), assists (8th) and points (3rd). Despite this being just her third season, she already ranks in the Otter career Top 10 in all three of those categories.

Ainsworth appears on the All-WWPA list for the second time after earning honorable mention honors as a junior last season. She'll enter the postseason rank No. 4 in the WWPA in assists with 37, just five off the conference lead.

CSUMB's final two all-conference picks are freshman who demonstrate that the future appears bright in the Otter Tank. White earned second team recognition after making 230 in the regular season, a mark that already ranks as the 10th most prolific in program history. Sosa, meanwhile ranks second on the team with 41 goals and fifth with 19 drawn ejections.

The Otters begin open play at the WWPA Championship Tournament in Salem, W.Va. Friday morning against host Salem University. The winner of the tournament is the WWPA's automatic bid to the NCAA Championship Tournament.
