Otters Showcase Multiple Personal Bests at NCAA West Regionals

CSUMB posts impressive cross country season

MONMOUTH, Ore. - The Cal State Monterey Bay cross country team closed out its season with solid efforts across the board, highlighted by several personal records and consistent pack running in both the men's 10K and women's 6K races at the NCAA West Regional held at the Ash Creek Preserve. 

The Otters placed 16th on the women's side and 20th in the men's race.

"I am happy with the end of season on both sides," CSUMB head coach Greg Rhines said. "The teams had really strong finishes. We are already looking forward to next Fall."

In the women's 6k championship, senior Ali Keith led the squad with a 55th-place finish, clocking 21:46.66 to pace the team. Behind her, Cozette Wood turned in a personal-record performance at 22:04.94, finishing 77th overall.

Sophomores Angeline Gutierrez (88th, 22:15.62) and Hannah Amundsen (93rd, 22:21.90) also notched PRs, helping the Otters maintain strong depth through their top five.

Rounding out the scoring five, junior Daniela Munguia crossed the line in 22:32.40 for 104th place. Rachel Hoops (106th, 22:35.20) and Cassidy Andreadakis (117th, 22:48.54) added depth to the Otters' lineup in one of the most competitive fields of the fall.
 

On the men's side, sophomore Hanival Osorio-Martinez led the way with a 79th-place finish in 32:05.20, setting the tone for a balanced team effort.

Junior Jake Walton followed with a personal best of 32:25.77, while Angel Arciniega (96th, 32:35.29) and Erik Bromley (103rd, 32:47.33) both finished inside the top 105, with Bromley also setting a PR.

Junior Cameron Cornforth (129th, 33:26.66) and freshman Andrew Pursley (138th, 33:43.63) provided steady mid-pack support, while sophomore Franky Hernandez rounded out the team's performance in 36:03.96.
