Otters Getting Ready For Fall Sports Action

Exhibition games start Saturday, season kicks off Aug. 27

SEASIDE, Calif. — It seems like just yesterday that the Cal State Monterey baseball team was lifting its fifth consecutive California Collegiate Athletic Association trophy. But that was nearly three months ago, meaning a new season of Otter Athletics is just around the corner.

The Otters already have begun practicing for the fall sports seasons, with cross country, soccer and volleyball hard at work on the courts, fields and trails. As usual, hope abounds, with a solid mix of newcomers and promising recruits ready to make their marks in the Otter record books as the chase for more CCAA championships begins.

The exhibition part of the campaign begins Saturday, when the volleyball team hosts its Blue/White intrasquad scrimmage in The Kelp Bed. First serve is expected at approximately 3 p.m.

Sunday will see the men's and women's soccer teams take to Cardinale Stadium pitch for a pair of scrimmages. The women will kick off against PacWest Conference rival Dominican University at noon while the men will host local junior college power Hartnell College at 3 p.m.

The games will count starting Thursday, Aug. 27 when men's soccer hosts Dominican for a 5 p.m. kickoff. Volleyball opens its schedule the following day when it plays the University of Sioux Falls (2 p.m.) and Northwest Nazarene University (6 p.m.) on Day 1 of the Otter Invitational.

The cross country team, which will not host a home meet in 2026, begins its season Sept. 5 at the Coyote Challenge in San Bernardino.

Tickets for all Otter home events are available online at OtterAthletics.com/Tickets. Purchasing your tickets in advance helps you skip the lines at the gate and gets you right in to enjoy the action.

As a reminder all CSUMB students, faculty and staff get in free to all regular season home games with their Otter ID.
