SEASIDE, Calif. — Senior utility player Marisa Lovos (Tualatin [Ore.] HS) earned her second career All–Western Water Polo Association award to lead three Otters honored by the WWPA leading into this week's conference championship tournament.

Lovos, a first team selection as a sophomore in 2017, picked up a second team award this season. Fellow senior Morgan Tucker (San Diego/Clairemont HS) was an honorable mention selection. Kaitlin Rooney (Morgan Hill/Presentation HS) was named to the WWPA All–Freshman team.

Lovos enters the WWPA Championship Tournament leading the Otters in assists with 39, a mark that ranks third in the conference. Her 88 total points also lead the team and rank fifth in the WWPA.

She is ranked No. 6 on the CSUMB career scoring list with 210 points. She ranks No. 5 in career assists (84) and No. 8 in career goals (126).

Tucker enters the postseason ranked No. 3 in the WWPA with 59 goals. She is looking to become just the sixth player in CSUMB history to score 60 or more goals in a season. Her 127 career goals rank No. 7 on the Otter career list. Her 143 points rank No. 11 all–time and her 63 steals rank No. 13.

For her part, Rooney has enjoyed a promising freshman campaign that portends a bright future for Otter polo. She is CSUMB's leading sprinter with 19 wins this season, currently ranks second on the team with 31 assists and holds the No. 3 spot in goals (28) and points (59).

The Otters will open play at the WWPA Championship Tournament Friday at 6 a.m. Pacific Time (9 a.m. in Geneva, Ohio) against McKendree University. The winner of that match will face No. 1 seed UC San Diego Friday at noon Pacific (3 p.m. local).
