OTTERS at DOMINGUEZ HILLS HIGHLIGHTSCARSON, Calif. — The Cal State Monterey Bay volleyball team saw its 2–match win streak stopped in a tough 5–set loss at Cal State Dominguez Hills Tuesday night in The Torodome. The Toros rallied from a 2–1 deficit to win 25–20, 19–25, 21–25, 25–19, 15–13.
Senior
Victoria Clardy (Westminster/Marina HS) led the Otters with a season–high 13 kills, becoming the first Otter other than
Jessica Malcolm (Lodi HS) to lead the team in kills this season.
Maddy Underwood (Spokane, Wash./Mead HS) chipped in a career–high nine kills off the bench while
DJ Gresham-Ryder (Stockton/Chavez HS) continued her torrid net play with six blocks.
After Dominguez Hills came back to tie the match at 2–2, the Otters twice appeared to take control of the decisive fifth set. But they let an early 4–1 advantage slip away then couldn't hold on up 13–11 as the Toros rallied to score the final four points.
Tuesday's match was the first of a 3–match road trip for the Otters. They'll head back to the L.A. area to play at Cal Poly Pomona (Sept. 26) and at Cal State L.A. (Sept. 29) before returning to The Kelp Bed to host Cal State San Marcos on Oct. 3.
