SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. — The new look Cal State Monterey Bay volleyball team continues to make big strides Tuesday night. Although the strides didn't result in a win, the Otters threw as major scare at No. 23 Cal State San Bernardino before falling 25–17, 25–12, 23–25, 25–23 in Coussoulis Arena.
It was the closest the Otters have ever come to beating the perennial national title contenders. After dropping the first two sets, they came all the way back to lead 22–21 in the fourth before the Coyotes score four of the final five points to close the match.
Jessica Malcolm (Lodi HS) led the way for MB with 14 kills.
DJ Gresham-Ryder (Stockton/Chavez HS) added four blocks and
Rachel Cookus (Thousand Oaks HS) chipped in a match–high 24 digs.
The Otters will continue their 3–match roadtrip Friday at Stanislaus State. They return to The Kelp Bed to host UC San Diego (Oct. 15) and these same San Bernardino Coyotes (Oct. 17).
GO OTTERS!
