CHICO, Calif. — History worked for and against the Cal State Monterey Bay volleyball team Saturday night in Acker Gym. As they always seem to do, the Otters and Chico State played a grind-it-out match whose outcome swung on just a few points.
But the Otters have struggled in the fourth set of matches throughout the season, and that trend continue on this night in a 24–26, 25–23, 25–19, 25–17 Chico win. CSUMB fell to 0–9 in fourth sets this season.
Senior outside hitter
Jessica Malcolm (Lodi HS) continued her assault on Rheann Fall's MB record of 1,454 kills by collecting a match–high 19 Saturday night. She now owns 1,336 of her own and needs just 119 more to claim the top spot.
Also of note in the match, senior setter
Leana Moleta (Palmdale/Paraclete HS) set a career high in assists for the second consecutive night, this time finishing with 44. She had 31 Friday at Stanislaus.
The Otters return home to host UC San Diego (Thursday) and Cal State San Bernardino (Saturday) to begin a 4–match homestand.
GO OTTERS!
