SEASIDE, Calif. – The Cal State Monterey Bay baseball team pushed across 18 runs on 21 hits while drawing 11 walks to sweep Saturday's doubleheader against the visiting Cal State Stanislaus Warriors. The Otters took a 2-1 lead in the 4-game series with 8-5 and 10-0 wins.

Senior Mark Hurley (Hollister/College of San Mateo) raised his season double total to 19, just one away from tying the CSUMB record held by Danny Nelson (2011) and Daniel Gomez (2007). He went 3-for 5 with two runs and 2 RBIs on the day.

Seniors Richie Johnson (San Leandro/SJSU) and Cannon Bernarding (San Jose/West Valley College) along with sophomore Matt Urakami (San Jose/Branham HS) each recorded triples on Saturday, raising CSUMB's season total to 14.

The Otters will close out the 2014 season in Turlock on Sunday, May 4. First pitch is noon.

GAME 1: CSUMB 8, Stanislaus 5
With the bases loaded in the eighth, junior Brian Hamm (Pleasanton/Chabot College) tied the game at 5-5 with a 2 RBI single down the left line. Urakami advanced the runners with a sacrifice bunt and the Warriors intentionally walked Hurley to load the bases once again for CSUMB. Johnson crushed the ball off the centerfield wall for a bases-clearing triple to make it 8-5.

Senior Chris Daniels (Citrus Heights/Sierra College) tossed six and two-third innings, giving up five runs - four earned - for a no decision. Junior Korey Groves (Citrus Heights/Sacramento City College) picked up his third win of the season in two and one-third shutout innings of relief.

GAME 2: CSUMB 10, Stanislaus 0

The Otters first three runs came on a balk and an error in the second inning. CSUMB doubled it up in the third inning, highlighted by Bernarding's RBI triple to left center.

CSUMB knocked in two more runs in both the fourth and sixth innings.  Freshman Joseph Armstrong (Sunland/Verdugo Hills HS) got his first collegiate hit, a RBI single to left field for the final run of the game.

Senior A.J. Quintero (Vacaville/Sacramento City College) finished his collegiate career with a seven-inning complete game shutout, striking out six batters and walking three.
