Andrew Kotin Named CSC Academic All-America®

Senior pitcher becomes fourth Otter in program history to earn national academic honor

June 23, 2026

SEASIDE, Calif. — Cal State Monterey Bay senior pitcher Andrew Kotin was named to the Collegiate Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America® Third Team, recognizing his excellence both on the mound and in the classroom.

Kotin becomes the fourth player in CSUMB baseball history to earn Academic All-America® honors and the third Otter to receive the distinction in the last four seasons. He joins KW Quilici (2025), Nico Hartojo (2023) and Brian Haggett (2013) as the program's recipients.

Presented annually by the CSC, the Academic All-America® program honors the nation's top student-athletes for their combined athletic and academic achievements. The program recognizes honorees across NCAA Division I, Division II, Division III and NAIA.

To be eligible, student-athletes must be a starter or key reserve, maintain at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA at their current institution, participate in at least 50 percent of their team's contests and have completed one full calendar year at their current institution while holding sophomore academic and athletic standing.

Kotin, who was the lone recipient from the CCAA, earned the honor with a 3.79 GPA as a kinesiology major. The Irvine native also put together one of the finest seasons in program history, becoming the first Otter to be named CCAA Pitcher of the Year. He also earned first-team All-West Region recognition from the NCBWA, ABCA and D2CCA.

On the mound, Kotin finished the season 9-1 with a 3.90 ERA over 67.0 innings. He struck out 42 batters in 15 appearances and allowed two runs or fewer in nine outings.

The Otters finished the 2026 season with a 37-18 overall record, capturing their fifth consecutive CCAA regular-season championship and earning their seventh straight NCAA postseason berth.
