SEASIDE, Calif. – Senior Mark Hurley (Hollister/College of San Mateo) knocked out five hits including his first home run of 2014 to lead the Cal State Monterey Bay baseball team to a twinbill sweep over Cal State San Bernardino Saturday at the Otter Sports Complex. The Otters (18-26, 13-21 CCAA) concluded Friday's postponed game with an 8-2 victory before scoring in six of the eight inning opportunities to cruise to an 11-2 nightcap win.

The Coyotes drop to 12-32 overall and 10-24 in conference action.

CSUMB trailed for only half a frame in the 16 innings played on Saturday while racking up 19 runs on 27 hits.

With a double in each game, Hurley raises his season total to a CCAA-best 17 and is only four away from passing the CSUMB season record of 20 shared by Danny Nelson (2011) and Daniel Gomez (2007).

The Otters will conclude their 4-game series against the Coyotes with a doubleheader (9-inning & 7-inning) on Sunday, April 27 beginning at 11 a.m.

GAME 1: CSUMB 8, CSUSB 2
The Otters scored two runs in the first inning Friday before the game was halted due to rain. After two shutout innings on Saturday, the Coyotes evened the score at 2-2 on a Kevin Meriwether double in the top of the fourth.

CSUMB quickly answered with six runs in its side of the frame. Junior Noah Graham () led off with a double to right center.  A CSUSB error and a walk loaded the bases for three consecutive RBI singles by junior Brian Hamm's (Pleasanton/Chabot College), senior Jason Brady (Campbell/West Valley College) and Hurley.  Senior Travis Bonner (Los Gatos/West Valley College) tripled and attempted an in-the-park home run after sending the ball over CSUSB's center fielder head but was called out at the plate.

After taking the ball from Friday's starter Jeff Owen (Clovis East HS), senior A.J. Quintero (Vacaville/Sacramento City College) tossed a nine-strikeout eight-inning game.  He allowed only six hits and two runs – zero earned – while walking two.

GAME 2: CSUMB 11, CSUSB 2
The Coyotes held their only lead of the day for less than 20 minutes after Nick Massari's hit went past the third base bag to double in Warren Fishback after he had a leadoff single.

CSUMB responded with three runs in the bottom of the second, beginning with Richie Johnson's (San Leandro/SJSU) home run that had a little help by the wind to clear the left field wall.  CSUSB's pitcher Ruben Rio's very next pitch went off the left center wall after making contact with Bonner's bat for a double.  Back-to-back RBI singles by freshman Josh Heinz (Santa Clarita/West Ranch HS and junior Blake Grant-Parks (Yuba City/Sierra College) made it 3-1.

The Otters went on to put up runs in each of the next five innings that included three more doubles and Hurley's solo blast over the left center wall.

Head Coach Walt White had a plan of three pitchers tossing three innings apiece.  Sophomore Brett Hammond (Lake Forest/El Toro HS) earned the win in his first collegiate start after striking out four and allowing one run.  Junior Kory Groves (Citrus Heights/Sacramento City College) took the mound next, giving the Coyotes' their second run while striking out two.  Junior Brian Scott (Campbell/West Valley College) closed the game by having an impressive shutout performance, giving up just one hit.
