Otter senior Kylie Fields had five goals in CSUMB's two games at SCU on Sunday afternoon.
SANTA CLARA, CALIF.— The Cal State Monterey Bay women's water polo team dropped a pair of games to WWPA opponents on Sunday. CSUMB fell early to No. 17 UC San Diego, followed by a 12-10 defeat at the hands of Santa Clara at Sullivan Aquatics Center on SCU's campus.
The Otters were led by
Kylie Fields (San Jose, Calif./Pioneer HS) and
Christina Keller (Agoura Hills, Calif./Agoura Hills HS) who each scored five goals on the afternoon.
Amanda Jennings (Oakley, Calif./Freedom HS) had 18 saves in just five quarters of play.
CSUMB returns to action Friday, April 12 versus UC Davis for the last home game of the season at The Otter Tank. First sprint is scheduled for 2:00pm.
Game 1: No. 17 UC San Diego 12, CSUMB 6
UCSD came out on fire scoring three goals within the first 3:38 of play. The first half would remain all Tritons as they took a 7-1 lead to the break.
The two teams played evenly through the second half each scoring five times. UCSD earned the 12-6 victory.
Keller and Fields each had two goals for CSUMB.
Alex Tyrrell (Wildomar, Calif./Elsinore HS) had three assists.

Game 2: Santa Clara 12, CSUMB 10
The final game of the Santa Clara Tournament would be a good one. It was evident that the host SCU and CSUMB had already seen each other a couple times this season. This game was very chess-like.
The Broncos got off to a strong start, building a 5-2 lead in the first and closing the quarter ahead 5-3.
The Otters were unfazed as
Julie Cooper and
Alex Tyrrell scored consecutive goals to tie the score at 5-5. The game would go to the break tied at 6-6.
SCU roared with three goals out of the gate to open the second half. Once again CSUMB would mount a comeback, this time with two Keller goals.
CSUMB would continue to nip at SCU's lead but couldn't quite catch the Broncos as they pulled away for the 12-10 victory.
Keller and Fields each had three goals for CSUMB.
Samatha Whitecotten (Roseville, Calif./Woodcreek HS) had three assists while
Hayley Burke (San Diego, Calif./Patrick Henry HS) chipped in with four steals.
