Otter freshman Samantha Whitecotten had a goal in CSUMB's loss to LMU on Saturday afternoon.
LOS ANGELES, CALIF.—Facing a nationally ranked team let alone is a tall order. The Cal State Monterey Bay women's water polo team dropped a WWPA contest 13-3 to No. 14 Loyola Marymount at their home pool, at their own tournament.
The Otters were limited to just three goals.
Kylie Fields (San Jose, Calif./Pioneer HS),
Samantha Whitecotten (Roseville, Calif./Woodcreek HS), and
Jackie Walters (San Diego, Calif./La Jolla HS) each scored a goal a piece.
LMU won each of the first three quarters 4-1 to build a comfortable lead. Lions duo Ivana Castro and Jessica Morelos each scored four times to power LMU.
Amanda Jennings (Oakley, Calif./Freedom HS) made five saves for CSUMB.
The Otters return to The Otter Tank on Saturday March 30 for another mini home tournament. They'll face WWPA rival Cal State East Bay followed by a non-conference match with Concordia-Irvine. CSUMB will honor its seniors.
