The Otters used their entire roster on their way to a 25-5 win over UCSC on Saturday afternoon.
SEASIDE, CALIF.—It was a banner start to the morning at The Otter Tank for the Cal State Monterey Bay women's water polo team. The Otters, with the help from a full complement of their roster, scored 25 goals in a win over UC Santa Cruz. Unfortunately, CSUMB could have used just a couple of those later in the day in a 10-8 loss to Occidental College.
Jackie Walters (San Diego, Calif./La Jolla HS) led the Otters with eleven goals in the two games.
Julie Cooper (Wildomar, Calif./Elsinore HS) had five goals while
Alex Tyrrell (Wildomar, Calif./Elsinore HS) and
Hayley Burke (San Diego, Calif./Patrick Henry HS) each had three.
Amanda Jennings (Oakley, Calif/Freedom HS) and
Paige Robinson (San Jose, Calif./Lynbrook HS) combined for a total of 23 saves on the day.
Game 1: CSUMB 25, UC Santa Cruz 5
The Otters took control early with six goals in the first 3:47 of the game. CSUMB would close the quarter with an 8-2 advantage over the Banana Slugs.
It was much of the same all the way through as Otter Head Coach
Gary Figueroa used his entire roster in route to the 25-5 victory.

Game 2: Occidental 10, CSUMB 8
Much like last seasons back and fourth contest, Oxy and CSUMB played a very competitive game.
CSUMB got on the board first with a Walters goal just :22 into the game. It would be the first of seven Walters goals in the game.
Occidental would retaliate with two goals of their own and a 2-1 lead. From there the teams would trade goals and Oxy took a 5-4 lead in the halftime break.
After the half it seemed as though it would remain a goal for goal contest as the teams found themselves deadlocked at six a piece with 4:14 to go in the third. This however is when the Tigers made their run.
Oxy went on a 4-1 run led by senior Danielle Garcia's three goals. CSUMB would score just once more as the Tigers came away with a 10-8 victory.
