BAKERSFIELD, Calif.—The Cal State Monterey Bay women's water polo team dropped two non-conference games on Sunday afternoon at the Hillman Aquatics Center in Bakersfield.

Jackie Walters (San Diego, Calif./La Jolla HS) who led CSUMB with five goals on the day. Walters tallied 11 goals for the two-day tournament. In the goal,
Amanda Jennings (Oakley, Calif./
Freedom HS) recorded 16 goals.
Game 1: Wagner 9, CSUMB 6
The Seahawks got off to a quick start, capturing a 4-0 lead through the games first quarter. CSUMB however, would make this an interesting game.
Lead by
Julie Cooper (Wildomar, Calif./Elsinore HS) and Walters' two goals a piece, the Otters outscored Wagner 4-1 in the second quarter to make the score 5-4 heading into the break.
It appeared as though the momentum gained at the end of the first half would carry over. The Otters opened the third with two quick goals to take their first lead a 6-5. Wagner would counter with four unanswered goals on their way to a 9-6 victory.

Game 2: No. 3 Arizona State 15, CSUMB 3
CSUMB knew it was in for a hand full as they faced the nation's No. 3 ranked team in ASU. The first quarter was competitive as Walters scored once for CSUMB and the Otter defense held the Sun Devils to just three scores.
ASU would prove to play up to their national contender caliber outscoring CSUMB 12-2 for the remainder of the contest.

CSUMB returns home to The Otter Tank next Saturday for a couple non-conference games. They'll take on UC Santa Cruz at 10:00a.m. before playing Azusa Pacific at 4:00p.m.
