Senior Jackie Walters was one of five Otters to score in Saturday morning's 10-5 setback versus Santa Clara at Sullivan Aquatic Center.
SANTA CLARA, Calif.-- The Cal State Monterey Bay women's water polo team dropped a non-conference game to the Santa Clara Broncos 10-5 on Saturday morning at the Sullivan Aquatic Center.
The first 10 minutes of play were closley contended. Santa Clara got on the board first but soon after
Jackie Walters (San Diego,Calif./La Jolla HS) tied it at 1 a piece.
After two straight Bronco goals,
Haley Burke (San Diego,Calif./Patrick Henry HS) found the back of the net to bring the score to 3-2 midway through the second quarter.
Santa Clara found their stride, scoring four unaswered on their way to a 7-3 lead at the break. From that point the game would never come within four points as SCU cruised to the 10-5 victory.
All told, five different Otters scored a goal each. SCU had four players score a pair each.
The Otters return to action next Saturday versus WWPA opponent Cal State San Bernardino at The Otter Tank. First sprint is scheduled for 11:00am.
