BOX SCORE SEASIDE, Calif. – Cal State Dominguez Hills took advantage of three Cal State Monterey Bay errors, leading to five unearned runs to win the series opener 11-8 over the Otters.
The eighth inning proved costly to the Otters as CSUDH drove in seven runs with four being unearned.
Trailing 3-2 entering the seventh, CSUMB racked up four runs on three hits. Junior
Tommy George (Elk Grove HS) drew a walk, advanced to third on a
Brian Haggett (Hollister, Calif./Sacramento State) single and scored on a sacrifice fly. Haggett plated on freshman
Chris Blanton's (Burlingame HS) ground out. Junior
Jesse Olson (Citrus Heights, Calif./Sierra College) concluded the Otter scoring on a 2 RBI double to the right corner.
The Otters attempted a rally by scoring on a bases loaded pass ball and a ground out by senior
Danny Nelson to cut the gap to 11-8.
Haggett led the Otters, going 4-for-5 with two runs. Junior
Jason Merjano (San Ramon, Calif./Sierra College) went 3-for-4 with 2 RBIs and a run. George kept his hitting streak alive with a single in the third inning.
For the Toros, Sako Chapjian, Matthew Young and Chris Vopinek registered three hits. Chapjian and Chris Allen each hit homers.

Harold Zosel (Pleasanton, Calif./San Jose City College) took his first loss of the season, giving up five runs (one earned) in 2/3 innings. CSUDH's Matt Montgomery improved to 3-1 after 1 2/3 innings of work.
Both teams return to the field on Saturday, Apr. 21 for a doubleheader beginning at 11 a.m.
