BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The Cal State Monterey Bay women's water polo team dropped a 6-13 decision to Hartwick after defeating La Verne 12-7 in the Roadrunner Invitational at Cal State Bakersfield.
The Otters where led in goal by junior
Katie Hart (La Verne/Citrus College) with 16 blocks from both games combined.
Game 1:
CSUMB outscored La Verne in 3-of-4 quarters, keeping the Leopards scoreless in both the second and third quarters.
Goalies
Paige Robinson (San Jose/Lynbrook HS) and Hart split time in the cagel evenly with one half each, finishing the fame with a total of nine blocks.
The Otters where led by senior
Nikki Smart (Clovis/Buchanan HS) with three goals.

Game 2:
CSUMB was evenly matched with the Hawks for the first eight minutes, but found themselves fighting from behind with Hartiwck outscoring the Otters 4-1 in the second quarter. After a short halftime break, things did not pick up for the Otters and they ended up scoreless in the third. CSUMB was unable to make up the deficit in the fourth and final quarter, dropping a 6-13 decision to the Hawks.
Smart added another two goals to finish out the afternoon with five goals.

HARTWICK 3 – 4 – 3 – 3 = 13

The Otter water polo team returns to the Otter Tank to host Concordia-Irvine and Cal State East Bay on Saturday, Mar. 31 for the second Mini Tournament this season.
