HAYWARD, Calif. – The Cal State Monterey Bay women's water polo team conclude its 2011 season with a seventh place finish,  the highest ever at the Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) Tournament. The Otters clinched a 12-10 overtime victory over Cal State Bakersfield this morning at Chabot College.

This was the first time in program history the Otters have defeated the Roadrunners.

Senior #Chloe McRaet#'s goal with nine seconds remaining in regulation forced the game into overtime which consists of two five minute periods.  Smart and #Jackie Walters# teamed up for a pair of goals in the first extra period to take the win.  

CSUMB's strong defense squashed three Roadrunner power play opportunities in overtime.  

The Otters jumped out to take a 4-2 lead in the first quarter.  Both teams nabbed two goals apiece with CSUMB leading 6-4 at the halftime break.

Senior #Katie Sowul# scored on a power play to open the second half.  The Roadrunners responded with three straight goals to tie the game at seven entering the final period of regulation.

Bakersfield took the lead three times in the fourth quarter with the Otters knotting it each time to force the overtime periods.
