Thousand Oaks, CA.- The Cal State Monterey Bay women's water polo team finished the Cal Lutheran Spring Classic with a bang, defeating the hosting team Cal Lu 11-5 Sunday afternoon.

In the tournament, the Otters were lead by junior Nikki Smart with 14 goals. Senior Chloe McRae added nine, Katie Sowul notched five, and Julie Cooper finished with four.

The Otters head up to Cal State East Bay Saturday March 12 where they will take on the hosting Pioneers, followed by a match-up with Fresno Pacific for the third time this season. On Sunday, CSUMB returns home to host Harvard at 5 p.m. in the Otter Tank.



GAME 1

The Otters came out with a strong start against Chapman. CSUMB scored six goals in the opening quarter and cruised to an 11-2 victory.

GAME 2

Saturday ended with an exciting last second sudden death overtime goal by senior Chloe
McRae to capture a 14-13 win over Occidental. At the end of regulation, sophomore Danielle Garcia for the Tigers scored in the last minute to knot it at 10. Junior Nikki Smart scored in the last second of the first overtime to tie the score up for the second time at 13 apiece.

GAME 3

The Otters came out with a strong first half against NCAA Division I Cal State Northridge, outscoring the Matadors 4-2. CSUN came out hard in the second half, scoring eight goals to clench the win.

GAME 4

The Otters opened with three goals to cruise to an 11-5 victory over host Cal Lutheran in the tournament finale.  Smart notched four goals and McRae added three for the Otters.
