SEASIDE, Calif. – The Cal State Monterey Bay women's water polo team earned a split on Saturday, recording  a 9-7 victory over Fresno Pacific after falling to Santa Clara, 12-6, in the morning.

The Otters were paced by sophomore #Katie Sowul#, who finished the day with eight goals. Junior #Tanya Mullen# nabbed two goals against Santa Clara and junior #Chloe McRae# recorded three goals against Fresno Pacific. Junior #Jamie Walters# and freshman #Julie Cooper# each added a goal in the final game. 

Against Fresno Pacific, CSUMB struck first by scoring four goals in the first quarter.  The Sunbirds were not going to go away quietly, closing the game to 5-4 prior to the halftime break.

Thirteen seconds into the third quarter, FPU tied the game up on a goal by Deborah Wall. The Otters racked off two goals in the final two minutes courtesy of McRae and Sowul.

The Sunbirds scored one more goal to start the fourth quarter, but the Otters answered with two insurance goals to clinch a 9-7 win.
