SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The Cal State Monterey Bay women's water polo team fell to No. 4 seeded UC San Diego, 14-4, in the Western Water Polo Association consolation semi-finals on Saturday at the Sullivan Aquatics Center on the campus of Santa Clara University.
The Tritons took a 4-0 lead after the first quarter and added two more goals in the first minute of the second quarter.
Senior #Mandy Enriquez# scored the Otters first goal of the game in the 6:39 second quarter mark.
UCSD held an 8-1 lead at the intermission.
Both teams recorded two goals in the third quarter, with senior #Cookie Cuzynski# and junior #Lauren Scholz# putting them in the back of the net for the Otters.
Sophomore #Nikki Smart# scored CSUMB's final goal of the game, in the opening minute of the fourth quarter.
CSUMB competes for 7th place in the WWPA Championships, taking on No. 7 UC Santa Cruz at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 26.
