CSUMB Water Polo team advances to quarterfinals, will face No. 1 seed next

Los Angeles, Calif. --- #Chelsea Laning# scored six goals and Cal State Monterey Bay  defeated Colorado State 12-10 in the final first round game of the 2008 WWPA Women's Water Polo  Championship at Loyola Marymount University.

The Otters, the No. 8 seed, claim the  final quarterfinal spot and will face No. 1 seed UC Davis at 5:15 p.m. today. Colorado was seeded No. 9.

Laning scored a pair of goals in each of the final three quarters as Cal State Monterey Bay never trailed after the first frame. She scored back-to-back goals to start the second quarter to give the Otters the lead. #Stephanie Salvi# and #Leilani Kekeuwa# scored two goals each as well. Goalie #Jenna Beer# made 12 saves in the match.

CSUMB improves to 18-11 on the season and 6-8 in the WWPA. Colorado  State falls to 9-25 and 7-14.
