THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. --- Buoyed by All-American
Chelsea Laning's six goals, the Otters swept their first two games of the Cal Lutheran Spring Water Polo Tournament on Friday, beating Concordia University of Irvine, Calif. 8-7 and finishing the day with an 11-8 victory over Cal Lutheran.
Monterey Bay jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the first period of the first game, led 5-4 at half and held on. Laning and teammates
Nikki Smart and Stephanie Salvia all scored two goals. Lanning scored four in the second match against Cal Lutheran as the Otters again led 3-1 after the first period.
Christy Thompson added three goals and Smart put in another two as well.
The Otters (10-6) have matches against the University of Redlands (Calif.) and the University of Laverne (Calif.) on Saturday.
