ROHNERT PARK, Calif. --- The first day of the 2008 Seawolf Splash Women's Water Polo Tournament was a great day for the Cal  State Monterey  Bay women's team, which went 2-0, defeating Cal Lutheran 12-4 and UC Santa Cruz 14-9 on Saturday.

Neither match was very close. In both games, CSUMB had lead after the first period and then led by at least five goals after the third period.

All-American #Chelsea Laning# scored two goals in the first game and five in the second to lead all CSUMB scorers. #Erin Lee# led the Otters in the first match with three goals. #Lauren Scholz# and #Nikki Smart# each scored two. Smart had four more in the second match and #Kellie Koorndyk# had two.

The Olympic Club was the only other squad in the seven-team tourney to finish 2-0 on the day, beating CSU East Bay 17-6 and Sonoma State 11-8. CSUMB beat CSU East Bay 8-7 earlier this season.
