VISTA, Calif. — The Cal State Monterey Bay women's golf team put together a consistent performance through the opening 36 holes of the Fujikura Invitational, currently sitting in fourth place at the Shadowridge Country Club.
The Otters opened with a 306 and then promptly followed a slightly improved 305 for a two-round total of 611.
"Overall, it was a good day for our team", CSUMB head coach
Jim Ragan said. "We had a lot of high points and a few mistakes, mixed in, but were able to hang in there and compete well all day long. Esther did a fantastic job today, putting together two solid rounds in her third college tournament. We are looking forward to competing tomorrow with so many teams at the top of the leaderboard."
Freshman
Esther Sheu was the standout for CSUMB on day one, moving into a tie for sixth place. Sheu followed her opening-round 75 (+3) with a 1-over par 73, leaving her at 4-over for the tournament.
Senior
Cathy Tong also surged during the second round, carding a 2-over 74 to jump into a tie for 19th place after an initial 80.
Newcomer
Khivi Kaur enters the final day tied for 26th after rounds of 78 and 77, while sophomore
Morgan Pittman remains in the mix at tied for 32nd with a 157 total (76-81).
Freshman
Audrey Cheng rounded out the team, carding a two-round total of 158 (77-81), currently tied for 38th.
The Otters will close out tournament play tomorrow with tee-off scheduled for 8:30 a.m.
