DOWNEY, Calif. – The Cal State Monterey Bay women's golf team garnered runner-up honors in its 2026 tournament debut, finishing with a 20-over 884 over the three rounds at the Rio Hondo Golf Club.
The Otters were consistent from round two of play yesterday, with a 6-over 294 today in the final 18.
Senior
Cathy Tong led CSUMB with a second place showing, carding a final round 1-under 71 to finish the tournament at 2-under 214. Tong fired six birdies for her best performance over the three rounds.
"What a great start to the spring season with a solid team effort," CSUMB head coach
Jim Ragan said. "We needed scores from all five players to finish as well as we did. Cathy had a great event and got a ton of experience leading much of the tournament individually. Her hard work is paying off."
Freshman
Khivi Kaur posted a top-10 finish by placing ninth at 6-over, posting a final round score of 6-over 78.
"Khivi played outstanding the first two rounds and is close to breaking through," Ragan added. "Morgan and Audrey both had solid tournaments, each posting a top-20 finish. Esther did a great job and really helped the team when we needed it, posting her best round today. We are looking forward to getting back home to prepare for the next event."
Sophomore

Audrey Cheng tied for 19
th overall at 10-over as Cheng tallied her best round at 1-over.
Freshman
Esther Sheu carded a 3-over 75 to finish strong and place 28
th at 15-over. Classmate
Maisy Lu, competing as an individual, placed 49
th at 25-over for the tournament.
The Otters will continue their spring slate at the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout. The two-day tournament will begin on Monday, Feb. 23, at the Corica Park South Course.
