Newcomer Khivi Kaur is seventh in first career event

September 29, 2025

AMARILLO – The Cal State Monterey Bay women's golf team opened its season in seventh place after 36 holes at 21-over on the first day of the West Texas Invitational held at the Tascosa Golf Club.

"Not the way we were hoping to start round one as a team," head coach Jim Ragan said. "We settled down some in the second round. We have a lot we need to work on, but I am excited about the upcoming season with this group. Khivi had a great day one of her collegiate career. Cathy bounced back and posted a good score in round two. We are looking forward to the final round tomorrow."

CSUMB freshman Khivi Kaur started her collegiate career impressively as the Cerritos High School product fired a 1-under 141 to sit in a tie for seventh on the leaderboard. The newcomer carded a 2-under 69 in round one that included an eagle on the par-4 14th.

Senior Cathy Tong used a 2-under in round two to shoot up the leaderboard for a 36-hole score of 5-over to move to 22nd. Tong only had one blemish in that round, posting three birdies.

Sophomore transfer Rori Fanning is in 36th place at 9-over, opening her Otter career with a 2-over 73 in the first round, followed by a 7-over 78 in round two.

Newcomer Audrey Cheng and sophomore Morgan Pittman are tied for 56th at 14-over. Cheng recorded six birdies over 36 and Pittman rebounded for a 2-over 73 in round two.

The Otters will complete the invitational tomorrow at 7 a.m. CT.
