Otters Open NCAA West Preview in 16th After First Round

Rori Fanning leads CSUMB in 36th after 18 holes

October 13, 2025

PUEBLO, Colo. – The Cal State Monterey Bay women's golf team sits in 16th place at 35-over after the opening round of the NCAA West Preview held at the Pueblo Country Club.

"Disappointing round from beginning to end today," CSUMB head coach Jim Ragan said. "Team wise we had an abundance of unforced errors. The greens were quick and challenging just as they were for all the other teams in the tournament. We have a lot of work to do if we want to compete and have the success we are capable of. Hopefully, we learned from the mistakes we made today and are able to post a more respectable score tomorrow."

Leading the way for the Otters on day one was sophomore transfer Rori Fanning with a 7-over 78, carding two birdies to start the tournament in 36th place.

Senior Cathy Tong is in 47th place with an 8-over 79 and sophomore Morgan Pittman follows in 55th with a 9-over 80.

Newcomer Audrey Cheng shot and 11-over 82 to post a 78th place round and classmate Khivi Kaur rounded out CSUMB in 100th with a 16-over 87.

The Otters will return to the course tomorrow, teeing off at 8:30 a.m.
