AMARILLO – The Cal State Monterey Bay women's golf team capped off its first tournament of the year by placing sixth at the West Texas Invitational held at the Tascosa Golf Club.
Two top-10 finishes carried the Otters to a 9-over final round and a 30-over 54-hole score.
"We pulled together and ended up with a decent finish," head coach
Jim Ragan said. "Cathy played well again today, shooting 69. Both Cathy and Khivi had a good tournament individually. It's fun to be back competing this fall."
Senior
Cathy Tong fired her second straight 2-under 69 to move up 12 spots to 10th in the individual standings. Tong carded five birdies in the final round to finish 3-over for the tournament.
Newcomer
Khivi Kaur was the top finisher for the Otters as she shot a final round 3-over 74 to place ninth with a tournament score of 2-over.
Sophomore
Rori Fanning and freshman
Audrey Cheng posted identical final round scores of 4-over 75. Fanning placed 31st at 13-over and Cheng moved up 11 spots to place 45th at 18-over.
Sophomore
Morgan Pittman rounded out the Otters in 57th at 22-over after 54 holes. She carded an 8-over 79 in the final round.
CSUMB will continue its fall slate on Oct. 13, as the Otters head to Pueblo, Colo., for the NCAA West Region Preview.
