Day Becomes Otters’ First Polo Academic All-American®

Autumn Day named to CSC AAA At-Large team

July 09, 2025

SEASIDE, Calif — Cal State Monterey Bay All-American Autumn Day (Murrieta Valley HS) went were no Otter water polo player has gone before by earning a spot on the College Sports Communicators Academic All-America® At-Large Team for her efforts during the 2025 season.

To earn Academic All-America® recognition, student-athletes must advance through the academic all-district stage and be at least sophomores who meet specific athletic qualifications while maintaining a minimum 3.50 grade point average.

In addition to becoming the first Otter water polo player to win the award, she becomes the ninth Otter student-athlete in the past 12 seasons to be so honored. Baseball All-American KW Quilici became the eighth just last week.

"Autumn's Academic All-America honor is well deserved," says CSUMB Head Coach Emily Schmit. "Autumn embodies what it means to be a student-athlete and this award is a testament to her dedication to both athletics and academics and what it means to be an Otter. We are so proud. Congratulations."

Day, who graduated as a junior as the only 3-time All-WWPA performer in Otter history, was named CSUMB's Female Athlete of the Year for the 2024-25 academic year. She led the Otters in goals (62), points (96) and drawn exclusions (45) this season.

Despite playing only three seasons at CSUMB, she ranks in the Otter career Top 10 for points, goals, assists, steals and drawn exclusions. She earned her degree in psychology with a 4.0 grade point average.
