SAN MARCOS – The Cal State Monterey Bay cross country teams cracked the top-5 in both the men's and women's competitions as the Otters posted personal bests at the Mangrum Track Course.
"Wow, what a meet," head coach
Greg Rhines exclaimed. "The men and women finally had cool weather, and their performances reflected this fact. The returners pulled out PR's, and the newbies had very strong marks as well. I'm very happy for my student-athletes!"
Ali Keith once again paced the Otter women, securing a top-10 finish with a time of 21:39.7 on the 6k course.
Cassidy Andreadakis followed placed 16
th with a time of 22:16.9.
Natalie Harper and
Daniela Munguia posted top-50 finishes as Harper was 42
nd overall with a 22:56.3 and Munguia was 50
th at 23:04.3. Newcomer
Rachel Hoops rounded out the top five by following with a 23:09 to place 54
th.
On the men's side,
Jaime Gonzalez was the top finisher, placing 24
th on the 8k course with a time of 25:08.5. Freshman
Erik Bromley was 38
th overall with a time of 25:29.1 and
Alex Fernandes was 49
th at 25:47.1.
Cameron Cornforth (68
th/26:11.8) and
Alexis Lorenzana (76
th/26:22.8) closed out the Otter scorers.
CSUMB will return to the course on Friday, Oct. 11 when they head to Golden Gate Park to participate in the San Francisco State Invitational.
