FRESNO, Calif. – The Cal State Monterey Bay cross country team started postseason action by competing in the CCAA Championship held at Woodward Park. The women's team placed sixth overall and the men finished seventh.
"I am so happy for our student-athletes," head coach
Greg Rhines said. "They went out there today and gave it their best, and that's all I can ask for. As always there were strong performances against some of the best teams in the country. We are going to be ready for Montana."
Ali Keith paced the Otters with a 21
st place finish, crossing the 6k line in a time of 22:37.8.
Cassidy Andreadakis followed in 40
th place with a time of 23:19.
Daniela Munguia was 45
th overall at 23:33.9 and
Cozette Wood was 50
th with a time of 23:55.6.
Rachel Hoops finished 54
th at 24:06.5 in her first collegiate championship to round out the Otter scorers.
On the men's side,
Alex Fernandes led the Otters with a 38
th place finish, crossing the 8k line in a time of 25:46.5. Newcomer
Erik Bromley closely followed in 43
rd at 26:03.1.
Alexis Lorenzana was 49
th overall with a time of 26:17 and
Jake Walton was just behind at 52
nd with a time of 26:29.9.
Cameron Cornforth rounded out the Otters in 56
th with a time of 26:45.7.
CSUMB will head to the NCAA West Regional held in Billings, Mont., on Saturday, Nov. 9.
