DAVIS, Calif. – The Cal State Monterey Bay cross country team posted a record-breaking performance at the Stump Invitational on Saturday held at the Putah Creek Riparian Reserve.
 
"I am so proud of my teams," head coach Greg Rhines said. "Once again, in spite of less than ideal conditions, the teams went out there and kicked tail. A big shout out to Ali Keith for breaking our 5k record. There's a whole lot of grit in these MB student-athletes!"
 
Ali Keith blitzed the course to a school record 5k time of 18:00.1. Her time placed her 13^th overall to help lead the Otters to a 5k team record score of 59 points and a runner-up finish.
 
Cassidy Andreadakis posted a top-25 finish with a time of 18:26.4 to cross the line in 22nd, while Daniela Munguia followed in 29^th with an 18:52.3.
 
Mariessa McLaughlin (19:00/32^nd) and Hannah Amundsen (19:10/37^th) rounded out the Otter scorers.
 
The men posted their fourth best 8k team score in program history by placing second with 58 points. Jaime Gonzalez led CSUMB with an 11^th place finish, crossing the mat in 25:25.1.
 
Erik Bromley ran the second fastest 8k time for a freshman in school history with a 25:28 to follow in 12^th place.
 
Alex Fernandes was 14^th with a time of 25:44.6. Jake Walton was 18^th overall with a 26:01.1 and Cameron Cornforth ran a 26:03.8 to secure a top-20 finish for all Otter scorers.
 
CSUMB will return to the trail on Saturday, Sept. 28, when they head to San Marcos for the Cougar Challenge.
