FINAL RESULTS

STOCKTON, Calif. — Sophomore Isabel Carpenter (San Luis Obispo, Calif.) earned her second Top 25 NCAA regional finish in as many tries to lead the Cal state Monterey Bay women's golf team at the NCAA Regional Championship Tournament Wednesday at Brookside Country Club.

Carpenter, who finished 21st as a freshman in 2019, placed 25th this year at 8–over 224 for the 54–hole event. Freshman Cathy Tong (Newport Harbor HS) finished one stroke back of Carpenter at 225, good for a share of 27th place.

Zoe Offield (Stockton/Tokay HS) amd Kayla Choy (San Francisco/Sacred Heart Cathedral Prep) both tied for 54th at 233.

As a team, thew Otters placed 10th overall at 914. Texas schools claimed three of the top five spots, led by Dallas Baptist at even par 864. Colorado Christian placed second at 873.

"We were all disappointed in how we played this week. Nevertheless, the team and I feel very fortunate to be able to compete this year after we had to take last year off with the COVID situation," says CSUMB Head Coach Jim Ragan.

The Otters qualified for the NCAA Regional Tournament for the third consecutive season (2020 and 2021 were wiped out due to COVID). This marked CSUMB's third consecutive 10th place finish at the regional, but this one felt even more special due to the team being rebuilt almost from the ground up to get back into competition after a 2–year hiatus.

"We came a long way since last fall and steadily improved as the year went on. We appreciate and will miss our lone senior, Kayla Choy," added Ragan. "She had a very positive impact as a member of the team! Everyone else is returning and we are looking forward to continuing in the positive direction the program is heading."
