CARMEL, Calif. — Cal State Monterey Bay placed all five of its golfers in the top 30 to earn a fifth place team finish at the Patriot Invitational Tuesday at Poppy Hills Golf Course.

The No. 36 Otters went up against a loaded field and picked up several key head-to-head wins, beating No. 27 Biola University, No. 28 Flagler College and No. 37 Sonoma State, amongst others. No. 4 Dallas Baptist won the team title, followed by No. 3 Limestone University and No. 10 Cal State San Marcos.

Sophomore Zoe Offield (Stockton/Tokay HS) led the way by finishing 21st overall at 228, including a 6–over 77 Tuesday. Freshmen Cathy Tong (Newport Harbor HS) and Harley Richardson (Santa Barbara/California Connections Academy) tied for 23rd at 232, with Tong shooting 78 and Richardson recording a 77 in the final round.

Jordan Karrh of Dallas Baptist was the lone player to finish in the red over the 54–hole event, shooting 1–under 212, including final a round 74. Her teammate, Faith DeLaGarza, placed second at 213.

Isabel Carpenter (San Luis Obispo HS) and Tilda Kvarnrud (Mariestad, Sweden) tied for 28th at 234. Playing as an individual, junior Kayla Choy (San Francisco/Sacred Hearth Cathedral) carded CSUMB's low round of the day with a 75 and just missed a spot in the top half of the 66–golfer field, finishing 35th at 235.

"As a team we seemed to be 'off' from the start of this tournament and we never really got on track. On a positive note, the players did a great job in finding a way to compete and stay engaged for a respectable finish," says CSUMB Head Coach Jim Ragan. "Hopefully we can reset and come back playing better next week in Arizona. Zoe did a nice job setting the pace and playing well this week."

The Otters jump back into action next week, traveling to Arizona for the RJGA Palm Valley Classic Apr. 1–2 in Goodyear. It will be CSUMB's final regular season tournament before the CCAA Championship Apr. 11–13.
