SEASIDE, Calif. — Though he played just two seasons in The Kelp Bed, Davion Berry remains one of the greatest players ever to wear an Otter Basketball uniform. Tuesday morning, he learned he would be donning a new one after signing a contract with the NBA's Toronto Raptors.

Per team policy, financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Berry burst on to the CSUMB basketball scene in spectacular fashion, earning CCAA Freshman of the year honors in 2009–10. He followed that with an even better sophomore season in which he set the Otter season record for points (615) while leading the CCAA and finishing No. 5 in NCAA Division II play by averaging a school–record 23.7 points per game. Both of those records stand to this day.

He earned All–CCAA, all–region and All–America honors as a sophomore by scoring 20 or more points in 18 of his 26 appearances while pouring in 30 or more eight times. He still owns four of the top six scoring games in Otter history, including a personal high of 41 in an 82–80 win over Cal State San Bernardino on Jan. 29, 2011.

Berry left CSUMB to play his final two collegiate seasons at Weber State University in the Big Sky Conference. He earned Big Sky Player of the Year an honorable mention AP All–America honors following his senior season.

He played three seasons playing in the NBA G League, most recently with the 905 Raptors and the Maine Red Claws in 2015–16. Berry spent last season playing in Tübingen, Germany for the Walter Tigers.
