SEASIDE, Calif. -- Cal State Monterey Bay Women's Soccer Head Coach Erin Reinke has been busy this offseason and it's paid off. The sixth year head coach brought in 15 new players to join the already young team. Included in the recruiting class are two Division I tranfer students in Madison Aguirre (Radford University) and Miranda Rudolph (Fresno State) who have joined the team for spring practice in preperation for the 2016 season.

Aguirre comes in as a five foot forward out of Fullerton, Calif. who looks to pick up some of the goal scoring left by last year's serior class. Rudolph looks to be a pressence on the defensive line after a season at Fresno State where she played in three games for the Bulldogs.

During her time at Buchanan High School, Rudolph was part of a 3-time league championship team. Her high school team appeared in the state quarterfinals twice and made the semifinals in 2014. 

Aguirre and Rudolph practiced and played with the core group of returners throughout the spring scrimmage schedule. CSUMB had a battle tested spring featuring games against some of California's top competition. 

"I want to thank the returning players who finished the 2016 spring season strong," says Reinke. "Coach Nate Kronewetter and I are proud of each individual and what the team accomplished this spring."

Of the 15 incoming players to Coach Reinke's squad, 13 are freshman, giving the program a pluthera of young talent. The women's soccer team welcome two sets of sisters in Marisa and Katrina Thompson out of Fresno and Valeria and Sophia Tellez from Davis. The Thompson sisters are both all-league defenders coming from Clovis North High School where they excelled both on and off the field. Marisa was the Valedictorian of the 2015 class, while Katrina was the Salutatorian of the 2016 graduating class.

Meanwhile, the Tellez sisters come to Monterey Bay after attending local Salinas High School. Valeria is a five foot three inch forward who was freshman of the year and a 2–time first team all–league. On the other hand, Sophia turns in an impressive resume herself as a 2–time first team all–league selection and back-to-back Tri–County Goalie of the Year for the Cowboys.

"I am excited to announce our 2016 recruiting class," says Head Coach Erin Reinke. "Great things are ahead next season. We have a great incoming group of young women who will only strengthen and add depth to the team."

Among the incoming recruits, Coach Reinke brings in four high school MVPs and eight all-league players to bolster the roster. The makeup of the 2016 will be young with 14 freshman, nine sophomores, five juniors and just two seniors. Monterey Bay will kick off the 2016 season with a scrimmage against Hartnell College on August 20, followed by the home opener against Notre Dame de Namur on September 1 at 3pm.
