WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. — Three Otters earned spots in the Top 20 to help the Cal State Monterey Bay women's golf team grab sole possession of fourth place after round one of the Big Apple Invitational at Elmwood Country Club.
Junior
Keila Takeuchi (Clovis West HS) leads the Otter triumvirate in ninth place at 3–over 75. Sophomore
Linnea Karlsson (Äkersberga, Sweden) is one stroke back in 13th place and junior
Blake Haverty (Martinez/Carondelet HS) tied for 16th with a 78.
Led by that group the Otters hold fourth place at 311, 13 strokes behind No. 2 ranked Indianapolis, which leads at 298. No. 14 Missouri–st. Louis is in second place at 300 while No. 24 Grand Valley State is third at 303.
For the record, No. 30 CSUMB and No. 43 Southern Indiana make it five of GolfStat's Top 50 NCAA Division II teams in the 14–team field.
"We played well today on an extremely difficult golf course," said CSUMB Head Coach
James Earle. "We need to finish strong and take care of business on the greens to have a chance to move up the leaderboard tomorrow."
The Otters will conclude play at the Big Apple Invitational with 18 holes Tuesday morning. They'll tee off 9 a.m. (EDT). Live scoring will be available at
